Are you an experienced Band 6 Physiotherapist with a wide range of Clinical Skills? Would you like to work in an area that will provide a different sphere in which to use those skills? Would you like to be part of a new physiotherapy service?
We are looking for an experienced part time Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the Community Drugs and Alcohol Team ( CDAT) and work on their Detox Unit, Calon Lan, based in Neath Port Talbot Hospital. This is a brand new post and is an exciting new development.
The role will involve assessing the patients and advising them on matters such as mobility/falls risk, manual handling, posture, lifestyle and specific MSK conditions they may have.
The role will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with individuals maximising independence . The post holder will become part of an integrated multidisciplinary team within CDAT.
The successful candidate will need to be able to take on the challenges of managing a complex caseload, be committed to team working and improving the quality of life for this client group
You will join an MDT working on the ward, but will have the opportunity to learn about the wider Community Based Substance Misuse Service.
You will also be an integral part of the Mental Health Physiotherapy Team and will be supported both by our Team in Tonna Hospital and in Cefn Coed Hospital, Swansea, and full training will be given.

Main duties of the job
To provide specialist physiotherapy input to the Detox Unit (Calon Lan) based in Neath Port Talbot Hospital
To offer full assessment of those patients admitted to the unit during their stay ( usually 7 days). Patients may have complex needs and may also have mental health conditions such as Anxiety, Depression etc
To offer advice to patients post discharge, an on occasions follow these patients up after discharge
To provide advice to staff and patients regarding Physiotherapy issues, especially around issues of mobility and MSK injuries/ conditions
To work with the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist in developing projects and further development bids for this area
