CHAPLAINCY VOLUNTEERS -NORTH CUMBRIA INTEGRATED CARE TRUST - Carlisle
North Cumbria Integrated Care Trust (NCIC) is looking to appoint additional Chaplaincy Volunteers to contribute towards and support the Lead Chaplain's role in the hospitals within both the West and East Clusters of the Acute and Community hospitals in North Cumbria.
Within the hospital environment, candidates must be willing to engage with all patients, relatives, staff, and to work with all chaplaincy colleagues regardless of denomination, gender, faith or belief
It is expected that chaplaincy volunteers will be recognised within and be approved by either their own denomination, faith or belief group, be in good standing within their own faith/belief community and ideally, have demonstrated previous pastoral experience

Main duties of the job
What tasks can this role include?
- Respectfully approaching patients and introducing yourself and your role
- Listening to patient or carers' stories
- Promoting the work of the Chaplaincy in general
- Building up a rapport with patients, staff and visitors,
- Praying with a patient if they request it or finding someone who could
- Referring the patient to the Chaplain for further pastoral care if required
- Some volunteers take Holy Communion to the bedside, if they are licenced to do so by their own denomination
- Joining in Team discussions and training as required

Disclosure and Barring Service:

- youth cautions, reprimands and final warnings will no longer be subject to automatic disclosure
- the multiple conviction rule has been removed, meaning that if an individual has more than one conviction, regardless of offence type or time passed, each conviction will be considered against the remaining rules individually, rather than being automatically disclosed.
