We are looking for a Deputy Ward Manager for the new Woodview Unit in Whalley.

Woodview Unit is a newly refurbished building on the Whalley site which will have a total of 32 beds including 12 Male, 12 Female and an 8 bedded Male PICU unit. These additional beds will complement those on the Pendleview Unit, Royal Blackburn Hospital.

The Woodview Unit is being designed with extensive input from service users and clinicians and is based on 'safety by design' to ensure that it can provide high quality care. The ethos of the unit is to provide therapeutic care which is empowering, person-centred and needs led, and focuses on promoting recovery and independence.

This is an exciting opportunity and the successful candidates will be part of an evolving service that has the needs of our service users at its heart. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic to come and join a forward thinking, dynamic and constantly developing team.

Main duties of the job

To provide nurse leadership within the multidisciplinary team and ensure the effective assessment formulation planning, monitoring of care given to inpatient service users.

To provide leadership to oversee and ensure all contacts with service users are recorded promptly and accurately and are of a high standard.

Provision of information and participate as requested, to assist service development and Clinical Governance requirements e.g. surveys, audits etc.

You must have proven clinical skills along with excellent communication skills, good knowledge and understanding of adult mental health and the needs of individuals. You will also need to have a working knowledge of the care programme approach, NICE guidance and enhanced risk assessment and the ability to explore issues relating to the impact of health and social needs on mental health and well-being.

*The �7k Welcome Bonus package applies to this role. The bonus is only available for people who are not currently employed (or who have not been employed in the last 12 months) by any NHS provider trust in the Lancashire & South Cumbria Integrated Care System in a like-for-like role e.g. a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse at another Trust in the LSC ICS would not be eligible for the bonus if moving to a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse role at LSCFT. Bank only workers for Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust are eligible for the scheme if they have not held a substantive role in Lancashire & South Cumbria Integrated Care System in the last 12 months (subject to all other terms and conditions being met). These incentives are subject to recovery clauses within the first 24 months of employment. This bonus is applicable to any successful candidate whose interview for this role is conducted prior to 30th November 2023.

The �7k Welcome Bonus package is designed to attract and retain the very best staff in post. The amount a new starter would receive is shown in the Welcome Bonus Payment Schedule below:
  • �3,000 after 2 months of employment (counted from start date with LSCFT)
  • �2,000 after 12 months
  • �2,000 after 24 months

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse qualification
  • On-going registration with the NMC
  • Specialist qualification or equivalent level in skills and development
  • Mentorship qualification


Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Knowledge and practice of Mental Health Act 1983
  • Knowledge and practice of the Mental Capacity Act 2005


Experience

Essential

  • Supervision and management of staff
  • Experience of assessing, planning and implementing and reviewing care needs
