An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated Registered Mental Health or Learning Disabilities Nurses within our Regional, Medium Secure, Forensic Mental Health Unit. At this exciting time the successful candidates will have the opportunities to be involved in the modernisation of secure services across Wales.
The role of the Registered Nurse within this service entails being an integral part of not only the delivery of high standard patient care to a diverse patient population, but also being very much involved in the discussions, planning and implementation of the modernisation agenda, from changes to the infrastructure of the service to, enhancing the models of care and to be part of continuing to create and shape a highly skilled, motivated and resilient Forensic nursing workforce.
Alongside this strategic work, the post holder will be expected to take charge of the ward on a regular basis and will act as a primary nurse to allocated patient/s.
The successful candidate will be part of not only a ward based team, but also part of the broader Multi Professional/Multi Disciplinary teams that are co-located within the clinic. This also enhances the opportunities available in terms of increased access to supervision, reflective practice and coaching.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply

To help to support and enable each individual under you care to improve and maintain their own health, independence and recovery within the ward/clinical setting, assisting them to gain new skills, values and promoting self direction and social inclusion.
To provide person-centred care, with a shared responsibility for positive risk taking, whilst also adhering to the public protection elements of the role.
Both career, skills and academic development prospects are accessible within the clinic, this will be actively encouraged and supported. Internal rotational opportunities are available, which allow you the ability to experience all aspects of the Forensic MS Mental Health Service, that ranges from the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit to the rehabilitation and recovery ward.
Having opportunities to assess patients who have been referred into MS services from different areas, such as court, prison or stepping down from High Secure services such as Ashworth, Rampton and Broadmoor. This role will be best suited to a dynamic individual who works well within a supportive team, enjoys being challenged and is able to adapt to the changing needs of this patient population.
