Are you passionate about supporting children and young people who are in crisis? We have a great opportunity for a Highly Specialist Practitioner Psychologist who is looking for a position in our Crisis team in Solar. The Crisis team is also an integral part of our wider Solar service. This newly created role is to help support the Crisis team with the psychological thinking around children and young people who require intensive support, with formulation, short term psychological work and transition planning to other teams within Solar.
Solar, rated 'Good' by the CQC and published in the Journal of Early Intervention in Psychiatry, is a partnership between Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, Barnardo's and Autism West Midlands and provides Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Services to Children, Young People and Families in Solihull (0-19).
Solar was set up as a service not about thresholds or tiers but about timely access to appropriate support in line with children and young people's needs. Solar aims to create a comprehensive system, designed around the needs of children and young people, which keeps children and young people healthy as well as treating those that are ill and prioritises resilience, partnership and co-production.

Main duties of the job
As a clinical/practitioner psychologist, the role will be an important aspect in the team supporting children and young people in crisis and the network supporting them.
In addition the role will include the supervision of practitioners and as well as providing consultation, service development, research and teaching/training as required.
There are also opportunities for ongoing CPD and training.
The role is available as a preceptorship with support available to progress in the position.
