This is a fantastic opportunity to join the cancer prehabilitation team at the beginning of this exciting new service. This is an exciting time for AHPs in CTMUHB. We are looking for visionary team members at all levels to guide and implement service development to be implemented at pace to enable the vision of supporting people in CTMUHB to achieve their maximum potential - physically, cognitively, socially and psychologically. (AHP Framework, 2019).

You will be an integral part of the new team comprising SLT, Physio, OT and Dietetics as core but also the wider multi-disciplinary team involving CNS, Diagnostic, Surgical and Oncological teams. You will be an innovative thinker, able to lead on a new project, work autonomously and as part of a team and a skill for collecting and analysing data.The right candidate will have a strong team ethos and will value the importance of involving the clinical teams as an integral part of this service development. Main duties of the job

  • Provide clinical leadership for the physiotherapy aspects of prehabilitation, delivering specialist Physiotherapy interventions throughout Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board primarily to people diagnosed with cancer.
  • Manage a defined caseload of clients with complex needs within out-patient and community settings, using evidence based /client centered principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
  • To provide leadership for less experienced staff, through supervision and appraisal as delegated by supervisor.
  • To participate in the planning, development and evaluation within this designated area/team, holding responsibility for defined projects.
  • To contribute to the maintenance and development of the Health Board Physiotherapy Service.
  • To use highly specialised, advanced clinical reasoning skills to determine a differential diagnosis.
  • To regularly supervise Physiotherapy students on practice placements, and other students e.g. Work Experience.
  • To take a lead role in the post-graduate education of physiotherapy colleagues and other professions.
  • Imparting knowledge and skills, guiding further knowledge acquisition and acting as a mentor.
  • To undertake relevant research/audit within the Cancer Prehabilitation service, developing an advanced practice portfolio and implementing best practice in line with National Guidelines.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Essential

  • HCPC Registration
  • Evidence of relevant, specialised post graduate courses/CPD to Master's level equivalent.
  • Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy.
  • Knowledge of appropriate clinical guidelines - Local and National


Desirable

  • Evidence of leadership/Management training
  • Clinical Interest Group
  • Evidence of Clinical educator training


Experience

Essential

  • Substantial experience of working as part of a physiotherapy team and/or multi disciplinary team
  • Broad range of experience with specialist experience in Oncology/ Orthopaedic/ Neurological/ Respiratory medicine/ Community/ inpatient rehabilitation/ Palliative care physiotherapy
  • Experience of audit/research (clinical and organisational).
  • Experience of formal and informal teaching
  • Experience of working within healthcare systems.


Desirable

  • Experience of teaching at post graduate level.


Aptitude and Abilities Skills

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, nonverbal and written).
  • Ability to use highly specialised clinical reasoning skills to determine differential diagnosis, independent of other Practitioners, in an expert area of practice.
  • Advanced assessment skills.
  • The physical ability to perform and cope with all aspects of manual handling, equipment and advanced manual treatment techniques.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively within a team environment.
  • Coaching/mentoring/ presentation/instructing/class taking skills.
  • Good IT skills.


Desirable

  • The ability to speak or learn Welsh to a satisfactory level.
