The Healthcare Analytics department within Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a new Senior Analyst to join the team within its Analysis and Reporting function.
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who has established analyst experience to join us. The Healthcare Analytics department is pivotal to ensuring the data and analytics needs of the organisation are met and in supporting the organisation to make data driven, evidence based, decisions.
You will have a range of responsibilities including shared line management of a small number of analysts (for cover), regular reporting, adhoc analysis and insight, and new report development using Power BI.
The team are currently working remotely and this role is being advertised as a remote role subject to the candidate having a suitable space to work from. There is the option to work from the office if the candidate prefers, in which case the base would be at our Corporate Hub in Southend on sea.
Main duties of the job
The Healthcare Analytics department is part of the Planning and Performance Directorate. It is comprised of the following functions: Analysis and Reporting, Data Warehousing and Reporting Solutions, Commissioning Information, Insight and Engagement.
The Senior Analyst is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality support across a wide range of areas within planned and unplanned care. The team is responsible for the submission of statutory returns, production of regular reporting, development of new reports in Power BI and completion of ad hoc data requests for the Trust. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of core functions within the team ensuring that information provided is accurate, complete, timely and adds value.
You will need to have extensive analytics experience as well as experience of extracting, processing and analysing data from different source systems. It is not essential for you to have had experience managing staff so if you are looking to step up into a role with management responsibility we can support you.
About us
Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is now one of the largest in the country, with a workforce of approximately 15,000 who serve a population of 1.2 million people.
We work together, and in conjunction with MSE Health and Care Partnership, to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and wellbeing of our patients in a compassionate way, and provide a respectful, but vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.
From facilities through to consultant specialists we want to be the best, to achieve this we need to recruit not just those who are the finest in their field but also those who have the potential to be. Yes, experience is important but so is outlook - if you are dynamic, forward-thinking and enthusiastic we want you to join us.
We not only offer you a good working environment with flexible working opportunities, but also the opportunity to develop your career with access to appropriate training for your job and the support to succeed and progress.
Job description
Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and motivating a small and personable sub team, which will involve day to day line management as well as planning and prioritising workloads.
The Senior Analyst will work closely with a range of colleagues across Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust using knowledge of information systems and information flows to provide analysis and insights to help resolve current challenges. This is a varied and dynamic role, where focus can often switch depending on the current pressures that the Trust is facing whether that is annual winter pressures, a pandemic or staff strikes. This will enable the successful candidate to get an excellent understanding of the workings of the NHS and make a difference. Alongside this, the individual will be responsible for ensuring the submission of accurate and complete activity and waiting list reports to NHSE/I, to ensure that the performance of Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust can be accurately monitored at a regional and national level.
The Senior Analyst will also be expected to use knowledge and skills to automate routine processes and ensure the continual development and redesign of processes to maximise accuracy and efficiency. This will involve spotting opportunities for development in Power BI and being responsible for this development from the design stage to publication.
