Our multi-disciplinary team includes Clinical Psychology, Nursing, Dietetic, Psychiatry, CAMHS Practitioner and Paediatric posts, supported by a friendly Admin Team.

Main duties of the job
As a consultant paediatrician you will be making an active contribution to our multi-disciplinary approach to assessment and treatment for young people with ARFID and related eating difficulties. Our interventions are formulation-based and in line with the latest evidence as well as national and international guidance. Our approach involves a combination of mental health, dietetic and medical input, with multi-disciplinary, multi-modal care packages tailored according to individual need. You will be part of a cutting-edge service at the forefront of developments for people with ARFID and committed to improving care for this patient group. You will have the opportunity to be involved in our research and training activities alongside delivering evidence-based interventions. We work hard to involve our service users in efforts to shape and improve what we offer.
Flexible working:
As one of the few Trusts in London we are proud to offer flexible working as part of our new ways of working, and we are happy to talk flexible working at the interview stage. In this role you will be able to work Monday to Friday in the time frames from 09:00 to 17:00. You may also be required to work up until 18:00, or start earlier in the day.

The multi-disciplinary ARFID team is one of the three MCCAED services. We serve our seven local South London boroughs (Lewisham, Southwark, Lambeth, Greenwich, Bexley, Bromley and Croydon) as well as seeing some nationally referred young people. The other two MCCAED services are the outpatient team, primarily seeing young people with anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, and the Intensive Treatment Programme for young people with restrictive eating disorders.
MCCAED has a strong commitment to developing innovative treatment through systematic research, its work being well known both nationally and internationally. The team provides specialist training opportunities for a range of professionals of all disciplines and offers training to colleagues nationally and internationally.
About our location: Maudsley Hospital
We are based at the Maudsley Hospital, our Trust headquarters, located at Denmark Hill. This is less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2) and is within walking distance from the beautiful green spaces of Ruskin park and the vibrant high-street that offers great shopping opportunities and with a wide range restaurants.
The ARFID team is based alongside other SLAM NHS Foundation Trust National and Specialist CAMHS Services, making this a shared centre for excellence in child and adolescent mental health care. In 2023 the new Pears Maudsley Centre will be opening in which leading clinicians and researchers in the field will be based together.

To provide a general paediatric service for patients of the ARFID service with a range of conditions. This includes all aspects of assessment and treatment and relevant management duties for the proper functioning of the To support and advise colleagues in the clinical assessment and care of children/young adults with ARFID To be responsible for out-patient clinic commitments as agreed by the MCCAED and N& S CAMHS management team To support the other senior members of the service in the execution of statutory roles and responsibilities to ensure the organisation meets its responsibilities to safeguard children and young people and meet their health and well-being needs. Help in developing and implementing policies, procedures and audit in partnership with other team and service members and relevant others in the wider organisation. Contribute to the dissemination and implementation of organisational policies and procedures Assess and evaluate information and results of investigations, write reports and present information to others as appropriate Encourage case discussion, reflective practice and monitoring of significant events locally Continue development through a process of supervision, peer review, reflective practice, attendance of training and development opportunities Responsible for covering colleagues periods of annual leave and short-term Clinical and educational supervision of junior medical staff as a shared responsibility with other consultant colleagues as appropriate.
