We are recruiting to one of our 8a clinical psychology posts within our welcomingand busy CAMHS team and would welcome applicants also for a preceptorship 7 -8a. The post is substantive and full-time but we are happy to consider applicationsfor part-time hours. You will be joining a well-established multi-disciplinary teamwhere we prioritise supervision and opportunities for professional development. Aswe are in a process of redesign across some areas of service delivery we are keen tooffer flexibility which would build on the strengths of the successful applicant.Clinical psychology is well integrated and highly valued both within the Buryteam and within the CAMHS care hub in Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust. Wework closely through the care hub Psychological Therapies workstream to share bestpractice and to continue to develop excellence in our work with children and families,including clinical research. The post-holder will be able to contribute to this work, egdelivering specialist training across the care hub.This post is based with CAMHS at Fairfield General Hospital site, but clinicalappointments may also be offered at a range of sites across the borough.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the multi-disciplinary CAMHS team, the post-holder will providespecialist psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions for children andyoung people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties, including childrenwith neurodevelopmental conditions and learning difficulties. The post-holder will develop and implementpsychological therapeutic plans of care with children, young people and their familiesbased upon an appropriate conceptual framework of their difficulties, and will offerspecialist therapy in a range of therapeutic modalities.The post-holder will also provide specialist psychologically informed advice,guidance, supervision and consultation to other professionals, and contribute directlyand indirectly to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care tobenefit all clients of the service, potentially impacting across all settings and agenciesserving the client group.The post-holder will provide supervision to some qualified and pre-qualified staff.The post will include working as part of the duty team on a rota basis, although asthe service currently operates with a defined duty team, duty responsibilities are keptto a minimum. There will be opportunities for the post-holder to take a lead on aclinical pathway or area of service delivery in line with their experience and interests,and contribute to service development, which may require use of research skills foraudit and policy development

Person Specification

education/ qualifications

Essential

  • post graduate doctoral training in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS
  • HCPC registered as a practitioner psychologist


Desirable

  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice


Experience

Essential

  • experience of working with cyp with full range of clinical severity across a wide range of care settings including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse etc
  • experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for psychological care and treatment as an autonomous practitioner with complex and challenging service users within multi-disciplinary care plans.
  • Experience of teaching, training and / or professional and clinical supervision


Desirable

  • Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care


knowledge

Essential

  • doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to children and young people and mental health.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS.
  • Formal training in supervision of other psychologists.


skills and abilities

Essential

  • skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment including psychometric testing, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration
  • Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
  • Ability to identify, and employ, as appropriate, clinical governance mechanisms for the support and maintenance of clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour.
