This is an exciting opportunity for someone to develop their clinical skills in a role that makes a positive impact in people's lives within an innovative and pioneering CAMHS service. This one-year fixed term training post is for Occupational Therapists with post registration experience to work as a 'Recruit to Train' therapist and Senior Mental Health Practitioner within a community CAMHS team or within a Mental Health Support Team (MHST) with other clinicians delivering evidence-based interventions.

The candidate will have a qualification in Occupational Therapy and will be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), adhering to Occupational Therapy Standards & Code of Ethics.

This role involves the care of children and/or adolescents. This Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Systemic therapists strive to assess and treat a client's presenting problem within the context of their social/family environment, building the skills of the family to support with the young person.

Main duties of the job

The Children and Young People's Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme (CYP IAPT) was a service transformation programme delivered by Health Education England and partners that aimed to improve existing children and young people's mental health Services (CYP MHS) working in the community. CYP IAPT training will benefit from being integrated fully within CYP MHS and linked to the CYP IAPT collaborative, which brings a valuable organisational infrastructure.

This is a training role within the Children and Young People' Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme (CYP IAPT). The post-holder will work within Hampshire CAMHS as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate, under supervision, high-quality evidence-based systemic interventions for referred young people in collaboration with professional colleagues and clinical services, in order to enable continuity of care.

The training and service experience will equip the post holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively in an inclusive, value driven service.

The post holder will attend all university based taught and self-study days required by the education provider, as specified within the agreed national curriculum and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills.

This is being run in collaboration with Anna Freud Centre and undertaking training at King's College London. This is an excellent training provided by Leading Practitioners in this field. The trainee will also be working as Senior Mental Health Practitioner within one of the varied CAMHS community teams for the duration of the one year course and would split their time between attending university teaching days and carrying out clinical work within their teams. This role will be best suited for applicants that are able to balance a busy work and study schedule. You will be an employee at the service but also enrolled for 2 days a week on a Postgraduate Diploma course. As this is a Postgraduate level diploma, you will also be required to be able to study and write academic material at this level. Applicants must be prepared to study and write assignments outside of protected study time (such as on weekends and after work).
