The post holder will be responsible for the clinical and professional leadership/ management of the Children's Complex Care to ensure safe and effective care delivery.

Overseeing the effective and efficient use of skills and resources to ensure the team and the service is organised to meet the needs of the patients and their families.
Act as a role model for the team in terms of clinical and quality standards, providing clinical leadership and support to all team members through clinical supervision. To be professionally and legally accountable and responsible for all activities. Provide clinical expertise as a team leader. Provide comprehensive evidenced based and skilled nursing care to children within their own home and/or other community settings. Work with clinical lead to maintain and improve the quality of practice and service delivery. Carry out and support audits to demonstrate effectiveness. Identify alongside the clinical lead training requirements for Childrens Complex Care service. Responsible for accepting referrals, ensure assessment, planning and delivery of holistic care is at the highest standard using an agreed nursing model. Ensuring team discharge patient on completion of episode of care. Support equality and diversity when engaging in professional duties with clients and in all working relationships. Will delegate and monitor the individual caseload of team members for effective and timely caseload management and reporting to the service manager activity data and will alert them to areas of clinical risk. Liaise with and work in collaboration with acute services, the primary health care team and other agencies when planning and implementing programmes of care. Recognise situations, which may be detrimental to the childs physical and psychological well-being, and to deal with individual situations according to Trust and local agency policies. Undertake risk assessments prior to service delivery within the home setting to ensure staff safety. Responsible for ensuring staff maintain trust standards in record keeping. Maintain clear and contemporaneous records. Ensure information is obtained and recorded before undertaking care. Responsible for Safeguarding Children by:
Management Undertake effective day to day management of the Childrens Complex Care team, including performance management of individuals where necessary. Assisting caseload, holders to determine priorities of care, co-ordinating skill mix on an on-going basis. Be responsible for the day to day management of the team/service, ensuring availability of service to meet both client and staff needs. To undertake management responsibilities of the team including budgets, staff rotas, cover for absence, sickness, and other absences. Input into recruitment and selection of staff, liaising with senior management where appropriate. Facilitate and ensure completion of staff Personal Development Reviews, monitoring attendance at mandatory and other education and training sessions. Act as a role model by demonstrating leadership and expertise and maintaining credibility across the organisation, wider health community and external agencies ensuring that positive reputation of the organisation is maintained. Facilitate and/or participate in the teaching and mentorship of staff, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills to fulfil their roles. Facilitate regular team meetings to ensure good communication within the team to foster, maintain and enhance effective working relationships within the team. Participate in research and audits relevant to the service and support both the service manager and clinical lead to conduct audit activity by continually monitoring standards of care, identifying risks, advancing knowledge within own specialist field, benchmarking and raising concerns to line manager. Appropriately manage the team resources including equipment, pay and non- pay for the CCN team. Ensure that all team members engage in regular team reflection/clinical supervision. Participate in developing service policies, procedures and guidelines in partnership with relevant specialists, ensuring clinical governance is central to the function of the service, taking the lead with developing policies alongside clinical lead. Maintain systems and processes to promote a healthy and safe working environment ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements maintaining accurate documentation and reporting any concerns to the line manager. Management of staff with responsibility for recruitment and retention, individual and team performance, sickness absence, capabilities, discipline and grievance procedures. Participate in the induction and orientation of new staff, ensuring mandatory training takes place according to organisational policy. Deal with informal complaints from service users and assisting with formal investigations as requested. Work with Service Manager to monitor activity, performance and quality of service delivery against contractual requirements. Responsible for Risk Management and Health & Safety of the CCN team: Ensure all incidents are reported and managed according to the policy ensuring serious incidents are reported immediately via the Childrens Divisional Management structure. Responsible for contributing to and implementing action plans following incident reports and health & safety reviews. Responsible for clinical risk management. Education and Development Take responsibility for own learning and development by recognising and taking advantage of all opportunities to learn, including participation in the appraisal process, supervision and maintain a professional portfolio. To identify and undertake specific training to maintain skills in line with NMC Scope of Practice and development needs of the service. Participate in the provision of in-service training for all grades of staff. Undertake teaching mentorship and evaluation of students both at the university and during clinical placements. Maintain own professional development in line with post-registration on-going education and practice (Prep). Management and Leadership Responsibilities Have an understanding of the national perspective and future strategy for the NHS and related areas of health to ensure that staff in your team/s are fully aware of the implications and can contribute effectively to service improvement. Develop and empower all members of your team to perform to high standards and innovate. Ensure supportive staff management arrangements are in place and carry out personal development reviews for direct reports. - oExperience working with children with life limiting/threatening illnesses and End of Life
- oSignificant experience working as a RSCH/RN Child Branch
