Sussex Community NHS Foundation trust nurseries are 3 workplace nurseries that provided full and part time day care for pre-school children. To deliver high quality compassionate care, within the nursery setting for the pre-school children of NHS parents, and some pre-school children from the local community. Working with a multi-disciplinary team to support children towards their Early learning goals. Working in Partnership with parents, carers, staff and outside agencies
To work as part of a team to provide high quality child care, and support under the direction and supervision of senior nursery staff. This includes assisting in the on-going assessment and provision of child care.
To work towards a level 2/3 apprenticeship. 20% of the working week will be qualification related and to attend college as required.
Main duties of the job
Main tasks
To be a representative of the nursery, and Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust at all times
To work under the direction of the senior team members.
To work alongside the team in the day to day running of the nursery and rooms in compliance with the registration at all times, including organising activities, inside and outside, and to interact with all children at their level.
To attend meetings, e.g. team and parent carer meetings when applicable (inside and outside of normal opening hours)
To maintain the standards of the nursery in conjunction with the nursery and Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust policies and procedures to maintain the standards of the nursery with full regard to the 'Welfare Requirements' as stated in the Early years foundation stage.
To work towards having / knowledge of child development, child legislation, Early Years Foundation stage, and to keep abreast of current trends in early years care.Prepare and serve food, drinks and snacks to children, encouraging healthy and social eating.Assist children with personal care, including changing nappies, assisting them with toileting and other associated welfare duties.
To work according to a flexible shift pattern, suitable for each nursery.

Work as part of a team, providing assistance and cover when necessary in all Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust Nurseries when applicable with in a development capacity.
To work towards keeping accurate records of childs progress, any injury and incidents occurring to any of the children, or staff, at any time (even outside Nursery hours) and report this information to the senior team members.
To contribute to risk identification and incidents and near misses. Proactively manage risks to safeguard children and report concerns to senior team members. To work towards taking part in monitoring and improving the quality of child care provided with participation with audits or similar programs.
To undertake training and education to progress skills as indicated by service development needs, and to become involved in special projects as appropriate.
To work towards being responsible for small amounts of petty cash on nursery outings.
May be required to demonstrate role and duties to trainers and senior staff, and other staff working in the service.
