An excellent opportunity exists for a dynamic team player to join Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust as a Specialist in a combined acute and community role.
The post holder will form leadership of an MDT at Goole district and general hospital as an active part of the team based in a combined role across Goole district hospital and community settings. The role will include medical oversight for sub-acute and rehabilitation ward at Goole along with Virtual wards and intermediate care community beds.
NLaG NHS FT is developing and investing in its General Internal medicine/Geriatrics model. Recent developments include Virtual wards, Community frailty model, OPAT service and Step down/step up rehab inpatients at Goole and District Hospital, ward 3. On site, state of the art diagnostics is available 24/7 at SGH and DPOWH. X-ray facility and elective work is undertaken at Goole along with rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation, and end of life care.
Main duties of the job
This post is to support the expansion of the team of senior decision makers in Medicine and Community/Therapies division. The successful candidate will form leadership of an MDT at Goole district and general hospital as an active part of the team based in a combined role across Goole district hospital and community settings. The post has been developed on the background of service redesign, and growing needs to support education and training. The role will include medical oversight for sub-acute and rehabilitation ward at Goole along with Virtual wards and intermediate care community beds.
All you need is:Good experience in geriatrics/ general internal medicine or related specialty at least at registrar's / Specialty Doctor level for more than 6 years, motivation and enthusiasm to develop in the specialty. There is an excellent modern Development and Education Centre with extensive facilities in our trust. You will be provided mentorship to develop professionally by clinical leadership in the community and therapy division.
The Hull York Medical School has brought an increase in the number students being taught within the Department. The successful candidate will be expected to take part in the teaching of medical students. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be appointed as Honorary Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School (HYMS).

- Undertake board rounds and patient reviews of the allocated inpatient
- Review all new medical admissions when rostered for Geriatrics on- call duty within the timeframe of the operational standard for the Trust and remain responsible for the care of these patients until they are either discharged from unit or transferred to the specialty ward whereby the care is transferred.
- Direct and manage the team to deliver effective, safe, and timely care in line with the operating standards of the AAU
- Leadership role in specialty
- Liaise with specialty clinicians to facilitate their early involvement and management where needed.
- Further develop functional links with the community to facilitate seamless transfer of patients between the community and the hospital.
- Ensure timely completion of all documentation pertinent to an admission, transfer, discharge, or death, in line with hospital standards.
- Acute Frailty assessment and Surgical liaison work along with Virtual ward and OPAT work as per allocated shift and rota

- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Full registration with the GMC at time of appointment.
- Evidence of specific training /experience in Geriatrics and/ or general medicine or allied specialties e.g. Renal/ITU/Resp/Geriatrics for at least 6 years
- 12 years post-graduation experience
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- oapplicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English ohave the following scores in the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Overall 7.5, Speaking 7, Listening 7, Reading 7, Writing 7 ohave achieved at least grade B in the medicine version of the Occupational English Test, in each area, speaking, listening, reading & writing
