We are currently looking to recruit a self-motivated, reliable individual to contribute to the development and delivery of a complete Employee Relations service, specifically providing an ER service to a Care Group covering a maternity leave position.
You will need sound knowledge of employment law and experience of providing a comprehensive employee relations service to line managers and senior leaders. You will be responsible for providing consistent sound advice and support to ensure the effective, efficient and fair treatment of employees in accordance with employment law, Trust policy and procedures and in line with Just and Learning Culture principles.
This will include matters of performance, attendance, conduct and resolution. Other aspects of the role include advising on the planning and implementation of organisational change and supporting complex ER casework including preparation for employment tribunal proceedings.
You will be required to work on your own initiative as well as part of a wider team. A working knowledge or an understanding of a Just and Learning Culture within the NHS would be beneficial to the role. Flexibility for hybrid working is available, however on-site attendance covering a minimum of 3 days per week is a requirement.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide consistently sound advice and support to managers on all aspects of staff management.
2. To keep managers up-to-date on the Trust's Workforce procedures and relevant employment legislation, helping them to adhere to their Trust and legal responsibilities.
3. To work with managers on the effective management and control of their staffing, advising them on the planning and implementation of any changes.
4. To contribute to the fair and effective operation of the Trust's systems for pay and terms and conditions, including the national Agenda for Change, through identifying any pay and terms and conditions anomalies, designing and developing and advising on any solutions, and (depending on the nature and scope of the anomaly) leading on implementation.
5. To provide advice and support to managers to help ensure the effective, efficient and fair treatment of staff in accordance with employment law and Trust policy and procedures. To keep the effectiveness of procedures under review, making recommendations concerning any changes. To work with managers on ways of overcoming any identified recruitment difficulties.

1. To contribute to the development and updating of the Trust policies, procedures and practice, helping to ensure that they comply with statutory employment law and case law, and contribute to the development of effective staff management practices across the Trust.
2. To design and deliver specific workforce training programmes, reviewing and evaluating their effectiveness. To contribute to the identification of future staff learning and development needs in support of the Trust's business needs.
3. As agreed, to provide expertise and support on the implementation across the Trust of specified national and Trust initiatives and projects.
4. As required, to research specific workforce related management topics, using sources from inside and outside of the NHS as appropriate. To make proposals on changes and improvements to practice and policies in the Trust.
5. To contribute to the provision of a quality service across the Trust through:
- The provision of advice to managers and staff whenever appropriate.- Membership of, or support to, formal Trust groups or bodies organised by the Workforce Directorate, e.g. Joint Staff Consultative Committee as requested and appropriate- To support and cover for other colleagues within the Employee Relations team as required.
6. To provide support and development opportunities to more junior colleagues through both formal and informal means dealing with more complex issues on behalf of junior colleagues where appropriate.

- Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management, or equivalent, or higher HR qualification
Experience
Essential
- Experience sufficient to provide advice and support to managers and staff on all routine aspects of the role (including, performance, conduct, employment law and workforce policies), without day-to-day supervision or direction and have the capacity to assist others where required.
- Worked in a complex organisational environment in a healthcare or similar environment and be able to demonstrate growth in role.
