An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new specialist doctor position in Perinatal Psychiatry to join accredited and the highly regarded Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust Mother and Baby unit in Winchester. The successful candidate will work alongside the inpatient Perinatal specialist Consultant Psychiatrist, Foundation doctors, and the wider multi professional group of staff including Psychologists, Nurses, Childcare practitioners, Social worker, Health visitor, activity coordinator, and Occupational therapist.
We are looking for an enthusiastic clinician to join our team. The clinical duties of the role will include participation in weekly MDT, ward rounds/CPAs/professionals' meetings, Mental Health Act related work and report writing when applicable. The job plan also includes time for Quality improvement/service development projects, teaching medical students, reflective practice and Continuing Professional Development. The ward has a special focus on ensuring that psychosocial treatments are also an integral part of individualised care plans, and as such some of the groups/interventions we currently offer include Emotional coping skills group, Anxiety management, Compassion focused therapy interventions, Reflective parenting, and Video interaction Guidance.
Main duties of the job
It is a 6 programmed activity post covering Monday to Wednesday. The clinical work will involve participation in weekly MDT, ward rounds/CPAs/professionals' meetings, Mental Health Act related work and report writing when applicable. The job plan also includes time for Quality improvement/service development projects, teaching medical students, reflective practice and Continuing Professional Development. The ward has a special focus on ensuring that psychosocial treatments are also an integral part of individualised care plans, and as such some of the groups/interventions we currently offer include Emotional coping skills group, Anxiety management, Compassion focused therapy interventions, Reflective parenting, and Video interaction Guidance.
There will be ample opportunity for the post holder to gain knowledge and skills in perinatal psychiatry, so having previously worked in the specialty is not an essential requirement.
This is a part time post covering Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
As this is a new post there will be the opportunity to discuss and develop the position with the clinical supervisor.

- MB BS or equivalent medical qualifica-tion.
- 4 years at full-time postgraduate training or higher or equivalent expe-rience with at least 2 years in a spe-cialty training programme in a rele-vant specialty
