An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to work with the Dementia Older Adults Mental Health (DOPMH) services in North Cornwall. This post is for 12 months fixed term , 32 hours per week, to cover maternity leave.We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful applicant will have experience of working with adults with complex needs in a community setting. We work with people with a diagnosis of dementia and also functional mental health illness (age over 75) in their own homes, or in a residential or nursing care home.
This post is advertised as being based at Banham House, Bodmin, however this post covers two teams, the Camel DOPMH team, based at Banham House and the Valency DOPMH team, based at Elfordleigh Mental Health Resource Centre in Launceston.
The the successful applicant can choose which team office to be based from.
You will part of a comprehensive MDT, comprising of Consultant psychiatrist , Memory assessment nurse , Community psychiatric nurses, Senior mental health practionner, Health care assistants and Dementia liaison nurse.

Main duties of the job
As part of the Multi Disciplinary Team you will provide person-centred, skilled and effective specialist assessment, intervention, monitoring and review for designated individuals who are eligible for the DOPMH Service. You will be responsible for the maintenance of high levels of evidence- based learning disability practice, contributing to and facilitating Care Processes and Pathways.

- Current professional registration - HCPC
- Professional qualification - OT
- Specialised knowledge of working with older adults with dementia/ functional mental health illness.
Desirable
- Experience of working with people with learning disabilities using specialist assessments and therapeutic interventions
Skills and Aptitude
Essential
- Highly skilled in use of standardised assessments and professionally recognised non-standardised assessments
- Able to use reflective practice and clinical supervision to provide high quality and specialist assessments and interventions
- Evidence of training, teaching and supporting other staff in an MDT or multi agency setting
