The Maternity Nurse will support the midwifery team to provide holistic care to women and birthing people. You may be required to work across the maternity unit and in the future the successful applicant may become part of a rotational team that rotates to NICU and Gynaecology.
You will work independently within the role of an Adult Nurse, under the leadership of register Midwives.
The post holder will provide nursing care in the acute inpatient setting to women and birthing people. As an adult Nurse, you will not be responsible for the care of babies and will not replace the role of the Midwife in maternity care.

These include a Consultant led Obstetric Unit with 2 HDU rooms and 9 birthing rooms and a pool room. . The antenatal ward hosts a Triage, day assessment area and inpatient ward. Provides direct patient care in the maternity and theatre areas commensurate with their post. Is responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care of patients Identifies individual patient requirements and acts effectively on changing needs, liaising with, and directing relevant staff. Organises time, equipment, and staff to deliver safe and efficient patient care. Gives skilled support to medical staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Administers drugs and treatments as prescribed in accordance with Trust Policies and Standard Operating Procedures. Demonstrates effective communication within departments and multidisciplinary team.
