A new opportunity has arisen for a senior MSK physio to join our team of Advanced first contact practitioners working within North Lincolnshire. The primary role of the post holder will be to provide excellent assessment and clinical skills whilst working within the primary care networks as a first contact practitioner.

Band 6-7 development opportunity also available working towards completion of set competencies

Main duties of the job

This post takes professional responsibility as a first-contact physiotherapist in General Practice, with high-level decision-making and clinical-reasoning skills to assess, diagnose and triage of patients. Leads, manages and contributes to service delivery. Your role would streamline the pathway of care by providing a responsive service so that patients receive timely access to care.

For the FCP component of this role you would be based with one Primary Care Network but would be required to provide cover for annual leave and sickness across the Northern Lincolnshire, working as part of a team of First contact Physiotherapist. As a team you would be expected to work closely with the integrated MSK and pain service to provide a seamless service for our patients.

For the MSK component of this role this post provides specialist clinical intervention for patients who have identified MSK rehabilitation needs. There will be a need to provide intervention to patients who have undergone elective Orthopaedic surgery or have acute injury. There will be a need to provide expert level therapy as well as support the MSK team and develop the service to it's full potential alongside other senior clinicians and the Operational Lead.

You will be based in the Physiotherapy Team at Scunthorpe General Hospital but may be asked to cover clinics at our satellite bases in Barton. Brigg, Winterton or Epworth.

Job responsibilities

Practice autonomously demonstrating expert problem solving and clinical decision making skills while demonstrating professional accountability and responsibility

Provide clinical expertise, acting as first-contact physiotherapist and making decisions about the best course of action for patients' care (including in relation to undifferentiated conditions). This will involve seeing patients, without prior contact with their GP, in order to establish arapid and accurate diagnosis and management plan.

Progress and request investigations to facilitate diagnosis and choice of treatment regime, understanding the information limitations derived from these and the relative sensitivity and specificity of particular tests diagnostic services such as x-rays and blood test, and interpret andact on results to aid diagnosis and the management plans of patients.

Deliver programs of supported patient self-management, in ways that facilitate behavioural change, optimise individuals' physical activity, mobility, fulfilment of personal goals and independence, and that minimise the need for pharmacological interventions.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant Health Professional qualification
  • Evidence of Masters level study relating to the relevant clinical area or able to demonstrate equivalent level of experience e.g extensive CPD in relevant specialist area
  • HCPC registration


Desirable

  • Masters level qualification in relevant subject
  • Leadership and management training/ qualification
  • Member of specialist interest group or clinical network


Occupational Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable post registration experience at Band 6 in relevant clinical field.
  • Leadership/management experience
  • Highly developed assessment/management skills
  • Teaching and Learning- Experience of delivering education to a range of audiences e.g students/MDT colleagues/service users and or their families.
  • Quality - Evidence of ability to identify need for change associated with best practice or emerging service need. Leading innovation and change in practice.
