An exciting opportunity has arisen within for a Resuscitation Officer to join us at our Kettering District General Hospital.

Resuscitation training is an integral part of training and development of staff, providing a comprehensive service across the hospital site. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly skilled nurse or allied health professional to join our established team in providing resuscitation training.

You will be a clinically credible nurse or allied health professional with the expertise and specialist knowledge for the delivery, organisation and implementation of all Resuscitation Training at all levels to appropriate staff groups within the Trust.

We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, passionate individual who works well under pressure and is committed to provide clinical leadership, whilst having extensive experience in resuscitation training and accreditation in EPLS/ALS/ILS

The post holder will be educated to degree level, a proficient Practitioner within resuscitation.

This position is working days Monday to Friday to cover the training requirement for the trust.

Main duties of the job

This role requires the post holder to maintain Trust accreditation with the Resuscitation Council UK in the training and development of all patient facing staff. You will be willing to work flexibly to cover the needs of the service delivering face to face basic, Immediate and Advanced life support training, that includes simulation scenarios, whilst facilitating a range of advisory and supportive roles such as debriefing, equipment management, policy and trust wide audits
  • To provide clinical leadership and promote safe and effective practice in relation to cardiopulmonary resuscitation procedures and establish learning and development programmes to support this.
  • To establish systems to record, monitor and audit practice across the Trust, provide specialist advice and make recommendations to improve the service.
  • To contribute to the development, interpretation and implementation of national and local policy and standards to support the work of the Resuscitation Group.
  • Lead on change management issues and development projects within the resuscitation service, seeking to continually develop and improve the service.

Qualifications
  • Valid Professional Registration (i.e. NMC or HCPC)
  • Experienced practitioner with a minimum of 5 years post registration
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • At least 3 years working within a Resuscitation services/ team
  • Current ALS instructor Status
  • Current ALS director Status
  • Current EPLS Instructor Status
  • Current EPLS director status
  • Degree
  • MSc in nursing/ health care related practice or equivalent qualification (or working towards)
  • Appropriate teaching qualification
Knowledge / skills
  • Advanced resuscitation skills to include use of specialised equipment
  • Ability to plan, organise, implement and evaluate training programmes
  • Ability to undertake research / audit
  • Ability to manage own time and workload
  • IT skills utilising Office applications
  • Clinical procedure skills such as: Venepuncture, cannulation, catheterisation, LMA Insertion etc

  • Emotional effort- informing learners when required level of competence is not reached, cardiac arrest events, emotional training content such as DNAR, emotional responses of learners in response to training content, general support and advice for other staff involved in cardiac arrest situations
