If you are passionate about change, new technologies and seek the freedom to lead change then you may be interested in learning more about working with us at Sandwell and West Birmingham.

We are looking to extend our current cohort of flexible and innovative Band 5 Rotational Physiotherapists ahead of our move to the new acute Midland Metropolitan University Hospital, opening in 2024.

We have exciting opportunities for you to join an established integrated 7- day therapy service working across all aspects of acute and community care where delivery of a high quality service and development of our staff are high priorities. We have an established education programme and strong peer support throughout the Trust.

Our 5 monthly rotation programme is delivered in a variety of settings including emergency departments, acute and community beds and clinics, and in patients' own homes.

We welcome applications from qualified physiotherapists and also at this time student physiotherapists due to qualify later in 2023.

Main duties of the job

Our current Band 5 rotational programme includes:

This is an exciting period for the Trust as we move towards the opening of our new acute hospital site, the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital, in 2024 in which many of these rotations will be based.

The successful candidates will be effective communicators with broad clinical experience, who are able to demonstrate resilience, a caring approach and a commitment to delivering the best possible care.

About us

Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust (SWBT) is an integrated careorganisation with a budget of approximately 600 million and over 7,000 staff. Diversity and social care is at the core of what we do as the Trust provides Community and Acute Services to over half a million people in an urban centre that demands massive regeneration and has substantial premature mortality.

Our new acute hospital, the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH), opens in 2024 and will provide care to our local population from first class, purpose-built premises. As a result, the base of this role may change to MMUH from 2024 (or beyond). If this is applicable to your role, you will be informed during the recruitment process and continuing your application with this understanding. The development of the new hospital will play an important role in the regeneration of the wider area and in improving the lives of local people and reducing health inequalities.

We have three newly emerging strategic objectives:
  • Our People - to cultivate and sustain happy, productive and engaged staff
  • Our Patients - to be good or outstanding in everything we do
  • Our Population - to work seamlessly with our partners to improve life
