We're looking for a qualified Mental Health/Learning Disabilities nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Social Worker to join our Liaison and Diversion team.

Ideally, you'll be an enthusiastic, experienced, and registered health or social care professional with an interest in health and justice and a passion for supporting young people making their way through police custody or court.

Previous experience in criminal justice and offender health is desirable, but we'll consider candidates without this.

Main duties of the job

• The role of the Youth Liaison Practitioner is to offer opportunities for early identification of health and social care vulnerabilities for those individuals coming into contact with Criminal Justice agencies. You will be working as a specialist Youth Criminal Justice Liaison & Diversion (YCJLD) Practitioner in close liaison within the wider CJLD Service across Berkshire, where you will operate flexibly county wide in the community, custody suites and magistrates courts.

• You will be responsible for conducting screens, triage and assessments of young people across Berkshire who come into contact with the police and youth justice system with a view to appropriate intervention for identified vulnerabilities and identified needs. Whilst assessing and/or liaising via identification of appropriate pathways inform support agencies or refer.

• This may involve advice, consultation and direct input in relevant cases as well a strong liaison functions including appropriate referral as needed to CAMHS and other services and contribute to decisions made about criminal justice outcomes and share relevant information with other agencies.
