To carry out, or oversee the repair, maintenance, or installation of all elements of building structure and fabric associated with all Trust properties. This will consist of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), fault finding, emergency response, defect correction and minor works.
The post-holder will be an integral part of a strong site-based team structure. As an experienced individual who will be the first line Multi-skilled Building Maintenance Technician for all day-to-day breakdowns, repairs and planned preventative maintenance works. The post holder will be employed to work appropriate to their core skills particularly around building fabric.
You will be versatile and able to handle conflicting priorities within this dynamic hospital environment, possessing great interpersonal skills that will allow you to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical staff. You will already have significant multi-disciplinary building services experience and have the ability to work under pressure.
Main duties of the job
The post holder must have a multi-skilled approach to a wide range of work of other trades outside their core trade skills and be able to undertake work in a safe and effective manner, complying with all relevant safety legislation and Estates Department safe working procedures on all works undertaken.
Carry out the full range of maintenance duties specific to their core trade as required, including non-routine, planned, corrective and breakdown maintenance tasks, this includes work on, or around, building fabric in wards and departments which will involve incidental patient contact.
Core Building Responsibilities:
In addition to their core building responsibilities the postholder must be familiar with working alongside other trades, preferably in a healthcare environment, and have or develop an awareness and knowledge of the mechanical and electrical responsibilities outlined in the job description.

- To have completed a recognised trade apprenticeship and hold a Btec/HNC/Diploma in a Building or equivalent City & Guilds qualification with intermediate practical and theoretical knowledge acquired through a diploma plus significant equivalent experience in their specialist field.
- Additional trade relevant certification e.g Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative or equivalent

- Accredited HTM Competent Person Course
Experience
Essential
- Must be able to demonstrate suitable post apprenticeship experience in non-routine maintenance of complex commercial buildings and equipment with a broad understanding of other trade disciplines.
- Experience in the manufacture of joinery items using a wide range of fixed woodwork machinery and portable power tools.
Desirable
- Experience of liaison with and supervising building and engineering contractors.
- Computer systems experience
- Experience in a hospital maintenance environment with exposure to all building and engineering aspects.
Skills and Knowledge
