We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist to lead the Psychological Professions team at Wathwood Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to join as an 8B to 8C development post or as a Consultant Lead. Applications are strongly encouraged from Clinical Psychologists who would be looking to develop into a Consultant Lead role. An individual development plan would be clearly identified for the successful candidate, with a date for re-interview based on the time felt necessary for the development to be completed.

Job responsibilities
The current Psychological Professions team at Wathwood comprises of Clinical and Forensic Psychologists, assistant psychologists and CBT therapists. You would also be joining a strong Psychological Professions group in the trust (over 400 staff) with opportunities for CPD and cross trust developments. You would form part of the Trust Wide Leads Psychological Professions group, which is a smaller group that meet every 2 months and also the Senior Psychologist in Forensic Settings meeting where the leads for the high, medium, low and community forensic services all meet together.
We offer assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. Our aim is to reduce the distress associated with mental health problems and to promote recovery. We are dedicated to achieving the highest standards of patient care.
The post holder will provide a comprehensive clinical forensic psychology service to patients within Wathwood Hospital. As a senior clinician you will work closely with the General Manager to plan and organise clinical service provision to meet service needs. This includes ensuring the delivery of psychological assessment and therapies, as well as offering highly specialist advice and consultation about patients psychological care to clinical teams and senior managers. Following direction from the General Manager, to represent psychological services on committees within and outside the hospital as required.
Substantial post-qualification experience in forensic psychology practice is required. Post-graduate qualification in a highly specialist psychotherapeutic modality is desirable. The post-holder must have leadership experience in delivering and evaluating evidence based psychological interventions to address the complex needs of male offenders with a diagnosis of mental illness. The post-holder will provide teaching, training, and supervision to psychologists and other disciplines throughout the hospital.
Experience of line management of a psychology team is essential that has included successful recruitment strategies, professional supervision, service development, and quality improvement initiatives. Experience of senior management responsibilities is also desirable. The post-holder is to work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the services policies and procedures.
