We are currently looking for driven, methodical and highly motivated theatre practitioners to join our operating theatre departments as a Senior Theatre Practitioner.
Whether you are a registered nurse, Operating Department practitioner or a paediatric nurse looking for a change or to gain experience with more complex and specialist surgery and anaesthetic, we want to hear from you.
You will bring a wide range of experience and specialist knowledge to this role, and be committed providing the highest standard of individualised, holistic patient centred care within the multi-disciplinary team. You will be ready to lead by example, show exemplary communications skills and manage the physical and mental demands of supporting our 11 theatres that cover a wide range of specialities.
Main duties of the job
You should possess excellent communication skills, be able to adapt to any situation and be able to demonstrate leadership skills. You should be able to support change and keep within confines of the budgets. You must be prepared to teach others your invaluable skills and attend regular updates you will have the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team whilst being a role model to others, you will aid the running of the theatre on a day to day basis ensuring optimum utilisation within the theatre and ensuring high standards of care are given.
The role will on occasions require deputising in the absence of the Theatre Coordinator and there is an on call element to this position as well as late shifts nights and weekend working. Mentorship is desirable.
You may be overseeing a specific theatre or discipline with support from our lead theatre practitioners acting as a mentor to new staff members or working alongside patient improvement projects to improve theatre efficiency.

Once your pre-employment checks have been completed you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions.
You will be expected to attend the Trusts Induction Programme for RNs,RMs and ODPs (which starts on the first day of employment). The programme is full-time (please contact the programme lead if this is problematic: nicola.henthorn@nhs.net), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to bothTrust sites.The programme includessupernumerary shifts in the clinical area and classroom-basedstudydayswhich runfrom 9am to 5pm.
Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at Enhanced Level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)
