We have a vacancy in our team of Rheumatology Nurse Specialists and this is an exciting opportunity to join a motivated team who deliver expert patient care across three hospital sites. The CNS will work in close collaboration with a team of nurses, doctors and the wider multi-disciplinary team to help deliver expert and high quality care for our patients with rheumatological conditions.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work at an advanced level providing a nurse led autonomous service. They will:
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering a first-class rheumatology service to patients.
Run nurse-led outpatient clinics alongside medical team.
Work to national standards and guidelines ensuring that remission of disease is a realistic goal.
Deliver high quality and relevant education to patients enabling effective self-management.
Ensure that an advice line is available to patients and health professionals delivers rapid, effective information and help, preventing unnecessary GP and A& E attendance

Job responsibilities
The post holder will work within the Rheumatology Specialist Team and will be responsible for assessing, implementing and monitoring care of rheumatology patients utilising a holistic approach predominantly in the out-patient setting.
The post holder will run autonomous Nurse-led clinics and will demonstrate a high level of knowledge and skill to benefit patient care
The post holder will plan the care of their patient workload, arrange appropriate intervention according to approved guidelines and standards, monitor effects of such interventions and arrange continued support.
The post holder will provide education and support to patients and their carers regarding their clinical condition and its on-going management, to promote patient involvement, shared care and informed consent. They will assure that their physical, social and psychological needs are met, referring to other agencies or MDT members as appropriate
The post holder will be a point of contact for patients within the Rheumatology department and will act as a resource for other health professionals in both primary and secondary care settings to optimise patient health, reduce risk and manage any issues related to rheumatological conditions.
The post holder will undertake Nurse-Led clinics. providing a cross county service and to include a bio-logic clinic. They will liaise closely with the clinic Nurses and the other Clinical Nurse Specialists, and offer support to the Day Case Unit where applicable.

- RGN with current registration
- Non medical prescribing

- First level degree
- NMC recognised teaching and assessing qualification
- Expanded role activities i.e. additives and cannulation
