This post requires a podiatrist who can demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in the management of individuals with lower limb musculoskeletal/biomechanical pathology in both adults and children

The post holder will be able to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the mainstream podiatry service and as part of the Community MSK Service, developing the MSK pathways for podiatry services in line with best practice and clinical governance.

The post holder will be responsible for day to day provision, operational management and leadership, across the mainstream Podiatry biomechanics and MSK Podiatry service

You will need to hold a degree or diploma in Podiatry, a portfolio of evidence of on-going CPD and be registered with the HCPC.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be able to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the mainstream podiatry service and as part of the Community MSK Service, this also includes a service level agreement working as part of a multi-disciplinary team at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, developing the MSK pathways for podiatry services in line with best practice and clinical governance.

The post holder will be responsible for day to day provision, triage, operational management and leadership, across the mainstream Podiatry biomechanics and MSK Podiatry service

To manage a significant clinical case load of patients and have demonstrable skills to implement, evaluate and modify highly complex care and interventions.

Essential

Education & Qualifications

Essential

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Podiatric Medicine
• Local anaesthesia certificate
• Postgraduate study appropriate for delivering advanced practice
• Registration with HCPC

Desirable

• MSc modules in podiatric medicine in a specialist area
• Certificate in Radiology
• Certificate Health Education or Promotion

Experience

Essential

• Evidence of extensive relevant experience and clinical practice in MSK Podiatry.
• Evidence of MDT working
• Experience in delivering audit
• Experience in delivering training to staff on complex matters.

Desirable

• Extensive clinical experience at an advanced level in area of speciality

Skills & Aptitude

Essential

• Ability to carry out and analyse and interpret results of various specialist assessments within scope of practice
• Ability to work autonomously
• Evidence of highly developed communication skill
• Evidence of good organisational and timekeeping skills
• Ability to supervise less experienced members of the podiatry team
• Advanced degree of knowledge in the prescribing and manufacture of orthotics
• Experience of delivering a variety of information in the form or lectures and/or practical presentations to groups with varying abilities.

• Advanced knowledge of complex patient care (assessment, diagnosis and treatment/management) and biomechanics and advanced gait assessment gained through postgraduate graduate study, or CPD or experience and/or rotation packages
• Be able to manage and treat high complex patients who require a level of advanced knowledge and assessment that is underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant to practical experience.
• A high level of knowledge of current national and local strategies, clinical guidelines and legislation relating to the delivery of podiatry and advanced podiatry practice.
• Knowledge of a range of IT packages and experience of clinical record systems.
