Applications are invited for a Full-Time (10PA) Consultant Psychiatrist to join our CAMHS Urgent Care team (Crisis/Liaison Service).
We would welcome LTFT applicants interested in job-share.
The post holder will be based at Temple House in Derby, a very pleasant base near the town centre with good parking.
The post holder will primarily be responsible for delivering a high-quality clinical service through direct work with patients, consultation, and liaison with other professionals in the CAMHS Urgent Care MDT, Paediatrics team on acute children's wards (Royal Derby Hospital), GPs.
The Consultant position will be integral to the multi-disciplinary team, providing medical and clinical leadership, working closely with other Consultants, Team Managers, and senior practitioners in the Team, and the Operational Team Manager to provide strategic development to the CAMHS service.
Main duties of the job
This is a newly established full-time substantive Consultant Post: a key clinical lead within the new CAMHS Acute Care Team which has incorporated former RISE Liaison and nurse-led Enhanced Home Support Service teams with expansion to include Crisis/Home Treatment Function and Day Services.
Provide psychiatric assessments, including assessment of risk to self and others.
Manage patients under the care of the CAMHS Crisis and Liaison pathway including risk assessment and management.
Liaison with community teams, family and agencies supporting children and young people in crisis.
Provision of clinical leadership to the CAMHS Urgent Care team.
Ensure the Mental Health Act is used appropriately, providing medical recommendations for assessments taking place in the community and 136 Suites. Involvement in MHA assessments of emergency cases as part of on call duties.
Supporting the hospital care teams where appropriate. This may include attendance at ward rounds where necessary. Liaison with the CYP Acute Paediatric Team.
MHA RC duties and when necessary supporting colleagues in the T4 CPA discharge reviews to ensure we are minimising the length of stay in T4 with a focus on enhancing community care packages for CYP being discharged.
