If so, a rare opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic registered nurse with experience of clinical leadership to apply for a Band 7 Ward Manager post in our newly established ward in Brentwood Community Hospital. Thorndon ward provides 25 beds delivering integrated physical health and high-quality intermediate care to Essex residents. We receive excellent feedback from our patients and would like that to continue as we develop the service further. Brentwood has good transport links and lots of free car parking on site, close to the M25.
We would like a motivated, dynamic, and innovative leader to join our friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary team to lead and support our wonderful nursing team. Good communication skills are essential and a passion for compassionate leadership.
Main duties of the job

- The Ward Manager has 24-hour responsibility for the ward.
- Visible clinical leadership with the emphasis on working alongside the team to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
- Managing staff with a focus on the on-going development and clinical support of our nurses.
- Promoting a learning culture and take responsibility for teaching, mentoring and assessment of students.
- Participate in audits and service improvement and transformation.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement - London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (minimum payment of �1,192 and a maximum payment of �2,011 per annum pro rata).

Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of nursing and support staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality care and excellent customer service to patients within the ward. This requires effective planning and implementation of care needs, in line with available resources. The successful candidate will manage both clinical and managerial and demonstrate an ability to work well amongst an MDT and who has strong verbal and written communication skills and high ethical standards.
You must have a good knowledge of frailty and a passion for rehabilitation as you will be leading the team to deliver the best. You need to have a desire for excellence and be a role model to the existing team ensuring the Trusts 5P Values and behaviours are embedded. It is expected that you will to be flexible, approachable, compassionate, and able to manage your time effectively.
