We are looking to recruit a dynamic qualified Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (SCPHN) with strong public health focus who are fully committed to delivering and improving the health and well-being of our diverse school aged children.

Main duties of the job

As a highly motivated and dynamic school nurse, you will play a leading role in shaping our services as we are committed in meeting the health needs of children and young people through the delivery of the 5-19 Healthy Child Programme. The school nurse will deliver high quality evidence based skilled nursing care within the schools of Islington. We have redesigned our school nursing service in line with the 6 High Impact Areas and require a school nurse who is passionate about achieving outcomes for children, young people and families.

You will be responsible for a defined caseload of secondary schools, and supporting junior staff with the management of primary schools. This will involve working in collaboration with parents/carers, education and other multi agency professionals.

We offer flexible working arrangements, Oyster Cards for travel during work time, IPhone and a 4G laptop.

Applicants must hold a Specialist Community Public Health Qualification in School Nursing. This is a definite requirement for the position and applicants who apply without the qualification will NOT be shortlisted.

  • A named nurse to a high school and cluster of primary schools
  • Deliver health education and health promotion in schools

Education / Qualifications

Essential

  • RSCN or RN (Child Branch) or Equivalent
  • Specialist Community Public Health School Nursing (SCPHN) qualification


Desirable

  • Evidence of Post Registration Training and Development

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in an effective way with people from a variety of backgrounds and different ages
  • To demonstrate the ability to reflect on clinical practice to enhance professional/personal development
