COMMUNITY NURSING SERVICES
Staff Nurse, Out of Hours- Night and Evening Service
Band 5
Part time/Flexible working
Community Nursing Services are well established within Walsall with a fully integrated domiciliary service and excellent relationships with Social Services and the Acute Sector. Offering a wide range of service covering the community out of hours service
An opportunity has arisen to join the Out of Hours, Night and Evening Service. The main part of the role will be providing care to community nurse's case load out of hours between 18:00 to 08:00hrs on a pro-rota basis. You must be a level 1 RGN.
Main duties of the job
You will be part of a team and have responsibility for a varied caseload of Community Nursing clients, the main focus during these operational hours are Palliative Care and Urine Catheter patients, the OOH team Cares for Patients in their own home this care closer to home model includes flexibility to respond rapidly for unplanned care to avoid Emergency Department attendance. You will work under the direction of senior nurses within the out of hours Teams between 17:00 and 00:00 but when required, you will be lone working over night with an unqualified member of staff. You will need to work flexibly to meet the demands of the service and be able to work effectively with partnership agencies and the Acute Trust over 7 days a week 17:00 to 08:00 on a rota basis.

Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The �170 million development of our Pleck Road site was completed in 2010 and the continued upgrading of existing areas ensures the Trust now has a state-of-the-art Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit facilities. Work is also well underway on its multi-million pound new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre which will house a new Emergency Department (including Children's Emergency Department), co-located Paediatric Assessment Unit, Acute Medical Unit and Urgent Care Centre. This is scheduled for completion this year.
We provide high quality, friendly and effective community health services from some 60 sites including Health Centres and GP surgeries. Covering Walsall and beyond, our multidisciplinary services include rapid response in the community and home-based care, so that those with long-term conditions and the frail and elderly, can remain in their own homes to be cared for wherever appropriate.
