We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced managerto join our dynamic and hardworking management team.
Main duties of the job
The Service Manager is responsible, in conjunction with the Clinical Director and Matron, for ensuring the delivery of safe and high quality care.
The post-holder will be responsible for delivering financial balance within their area of responsibility and for the management of CIP.
To ensure the delivery of 18 week standards and other national patient access standards. To monitor, analyse and act upon outpatient activity and waiting times.
To support services within the Division to run smoothly on a day-to-day basis.

Job responsibilities
Operational Management
- To ensure the delivery of 18 week standards and other national patient access standards.
- To monitor, analyse and act upon outpatient activity and waiting times.
- To support services within the division to run smoothly on a day-to-day basis.
- Exercise delegated authority on behalf of the Associate Chief of Operations to resolve day-to-day management issues.
- Undertake capacity and demand analysis.
- Preparation for and attendance at the weekly performance review meeting.
Risk & Governance
- Manage the implementation of effective systems, control processes and risk management arrangements of the division
- Support the monitoring of compliance with internal and external governance and best practice requirements in the service
- Support conflict resolution from patients, staff, suppliers and other internal and external service providers and partner organisation in the service
- To investigate and respond to complaints in line with Trust Policy
Staff Management
- To adopt an inclusive and participative management style with active listening to the ideas of frontline staff. Listening into Action (LiA) is a way of working that we have adopted at Alder Hey.
- Managerial responsibility for all admin and clerical staff within the division
- Set objectives and review performance of A& C staff, identifying individual training and development needs and promote continued personal and professional development in keeping with the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework.
- Manage sickness, disciplinary and performance issues in line with Trust Policies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Trust Policies and Procedures.
- Recruit and induct A& C staff in line with Trust Policies and Procedures.
- Anticipate A& C staff shortages and take action to minimise the impact of these on service delivery.
- To support the recruitment of trust employed junior and middle grade doctors.
Financial Management
- Manage and monitor performance so that the division meets its financial and operating targets.
- Deliver CIP whilst maintaining or enhancing quality of care.
- Manage the administration and clerical budget within the division ensuring that expenditure is within agreed limits.
Strategy and Service Improvement
- To contribute to the strategic development of the service
- Participate in Trust and divisoion-wide programmes that contribute to the modernisation of patient services
Research and Development & Training
- Provide support in the development and implementation of Research and Development education and training programmes
