Join our dynamic and experienced team as we continue to strive for excellence in integrated Stroke and Neuro services. Based at Epsom Hospital where we have a large Stroke unit and also cover Neuro outliers, we in an exciting period of growth and development.
The Neuro OT team makes up a portion of a wider MDT including Physio, SLT, Dietetics, Psychology and Specialist nursing.
This post is a permanent Band 6 role on a static basis - not rotational.
You will have access to training, supervision and development within this post.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for assessment, treatment planning and intervention delivery of referred patients, which will be a mixed caseload of patients with stroke/neurological conditions requiring neuro-therapy intervention. They will work closely with a stroke specialist MDT, to provide and facilitate appropriate holistic management, rehabilitation and advice to patients, staff and carers. They will work with multidisciplinary ward teams and discharge coordinators to identify and facilitate appropriate discharge plans from hospital, including ongoing referrals to specialist and / or local services where appropriate. The postholder will be an integral part of the neurology team, led by a band 7 clinician who will provide support to the postholder. Supported by the band 7 clinician, the postholder will be required to supervise junior staff, technicians, assistants and students as appropriate. They will be expected to participate in development and monitoring of service standards and to assist in the running of the day to day service.

- Occupational Therapy diploma or degree
- Registered with Health Professions Council
- Understanding of services available in the community
- Appreciation of current developments in health care provision
- Comprehensive knowledge of equipment
- Knowledge of clinical governance

- Other relevant post-registration courses
- Membership of a relevant specialist section of British Association of Occupational Therapists
