To support the finance team an exciting opportunity has arisen within the Contracts and Income section. This Deputy Income & Contracts Accountant role is key to the financial management of funding into the trust. The role involves developing and implementing income financial management for the trust. We require a flexible, confident and motivated individual looking to develop their career in NHS finance. The post holder will provide high calibre income financial management and support to the Trust's operational teams and managers as well as to the commissioners.
Applicants should be highly numerate with clear verbal and written communication skills and be capable of prioritising workload effectively and work independently. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop personally and professionally, as a role model within the department. We expect candidates to be enthusiastic, flexible and hard-working, seizing this opportunity to develop knowledge and skills within the operation of a large acute Foundation Trust. The finance department has won multiple awards and is fully accredited at level 3.
Interviews likely to take place during week commencing 2nd October 2023.
Main duties of the job
This vacancy is for a band 6 post but depending on experience and qualifications this could be a development opportunity as an Assistant Income and Contracts Accountant (Band 5) (Please see Job Descriptions/Person Specifications). The successful candidate will be a Part qualified (Diploma level) CCAB Professional Qualification with the ability to progress to full qualification.
Objectives will be linked to the Finance Staff Development (FSD) Network Level 3 technical competencies for experienced professionals:

- 5 GCSE passes or equivalent to include English and Maths or equivalent experience
- Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development
- Qualified desirable but at least Part qualified CCAB/ CIMA accountant (advanced diploma level) or equivalent and actively studying towards full membership
Knowledge

- Detailed knowledge of the NHS financial regime and the challenges that this entails
- Specialist up to date knowledge of accounting policies and procedures
- Proficient in the use of computerised and manual financial systems.
Experience

- Consistent, significant & recent experience in a contract income or management accounting environment, with an advanced understanding of financial management, contract income and financial accounting principles. Evidence of experience in a senior finance management role
