Highly Specialised Occupational therapy team lead, Frailty & Older Peoples Unit

Dorset County Hospital therapy team are actively recruiting for a dynamic Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join our Acute Frailty and Older Peoples Therapy Team.
The Team works closely with the larger Multidisciplinary Team to care for acutely unwell frail patients attending the hospital and through collaborative decision making with our colleagues we facilitate safe and rapid discharge from hospital.
The Therapies Service at Dorset County Hospital is an integrated Therapies Service working together to ensure that therapies provision is the best that it can be, balancing quality and acute pressures to provide and improve patient centred services.. The team is very supportive and there are lots of opportunities to develop both clinical and non-clinical skills, with access to internal and external courses.
The multidisciplinary team is currently working on a number of exciting initiatives including working towards becoming a centre of excellence. We also encourage our team to partake in recruitment and projects such as the Frailty Network.
It will be necessary to participate in weekend rotas in this role as part of a 7 day service.
Main duties of the job
As a Senior Occupational Therapist and team lead you will be required to demonstrate leadership skills and be confident to work as an autonomous practitioner with a focus on early assessment and discharge planning, with rapid and robust decision-making essential for efficient patient flow.
You will be familiar with the assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical, cognitive and psychological health conditions within elderly and medical specialities in order to develop and deliver treatment and discharge plans.
You will have the oversight of daily running of the therapy team (including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and support workforce) planning of caseload, annual leave, training, supervision
To promote and demonstrate safe, timely and appropriate discharge planning, in line with the Homefirst programme
To provide clinical guidance and the delegation of work to staff of all disciplines

Education, Qualifications and Training
Essential
- Educated to masters level or demonstrable experience
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualification clinical experience at a band 6 level.
- Registered OT working in a Therapy team
- Up to date professional HCPC registration
- Evidence of recent CPD
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Experience of working autonomously and unsupervised
- Evidence of completing audits and quality improvement projects
- Experience of supporting both undergraduate and post graduate learners in practice.
- Knowledge of national guidelines and standards pertaining to specialist pathways and occupational therapy
