An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the breast reconstruction team at QVH as a Macmillan Breast Reconstruction Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). We pride ourselves on being supportive and friendly with a long history of clinical excellence. We are looking for an individual who is passionate and driven by patient centred care. The CNS is a registered nurse who has command of a broad expert knowledge base and clinical competence. The CNS is able to make complex clinical decisions using expert clinical judgement, they are an essential member of the multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
The CNS works autonomously under the guidance of the other Macmillan Breast Reconstruction CNS', Plastic Surgery Consultants and within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure delivery of a high standard of personalised patient care. They are accountable to the Lead Cancer CNS.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to demonstrate advanced clinical skills and knowledge by working with a forward thinking team, striving to provide a high standard of care to a specific cohort of patients. You will have excellent communication skills, be confident, motivated, independent and proactive inpatient care and decision-making skills.The speciality is a challenging and rewarding environment to work in and offers an exceptional opportunity to work within a dynamic and motivated multi-disciplinary team. The Band 7 position demands a high level of responsibility, autonomy and leadership. Experience in breast reconstruction, nurse-led clinics, staff education and service development are essential for consideration of the Band 7 position. Without this level of experience, applicants will be considered for the Band 6 developmental post.
