We are looking for a dynamic and forward thinking radiographer to join their radiotherapy team as a pre-treatment advanced practitioner. You will have previous leadership experience and be confident in all aspects of pre-treatment, including CT and virtual simulation.

The UHS radiotherapy department is equipped with 7 Elekta Versa HD linacs, 3 combining ExacTrac Dynamic and iGuide systems and 4 with VisionRT surface guidance, an HDR brachytherapy unit, XStrahl orthovoltage unit and a Mobetron intra-operative radiotherapy unit. The pre-treatment area consists of 3 CT scanners across 2 sites (Southampton and Basingstoke), 2 of which have contrast injection pumps, as well as Elekta's Active Breathing Co-ordinator and Varian's RGSC.We are looking for a pre-treatment advanced practitioner to join the current pre-treatment team and working with the band 7 and 8 team in order to drive forward the service, with the aim of delivering a world-class service to our patients.

Job responsibilities

Play an active role in the development and implementation of new equipment and treatment techniques, working closely with other AdPs, clinicians and physicists Lead and manage the operational running of the pre-treatment areas and be an expert point of contact for the multidisciplinary team Line manage the permanent pre-treatment team and take responsibility for the training and development of permanent and rotational pre-treatment staff Engage in research and development to contribute to the evidence base in the pre-treatment field. Close collaboration with other Advanced Practitioners and medical professionals will be required to enhance the patient pathway.

  • Degree in Therapeutic Radiography / Diploma of College of Radiographers with specialist experience and courses.
  • Masters degree or module / equivalence
  • HCPC registration

Previous or relevant experience necessary

  • Ability to lead and manage teams
  • Evidence of working at a senior level within a Radiotherapy Department
  • Knowledge / Experience of modern radiotherapy
  • Awareness and practice with latest technological advances in radiotherapy
  • Project and audit experience


Desirable

  • Project management/educational experience/ MSc
  • Understanding of wider cancer agenda and NHS commissioning structure
  • Evidence of managing the patient pathway in radiotherapy
