We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated Radiographers to join our team of experienced friendly staff who provide services across a dynamic mix of departments for all our patients.

The established team is comprised of staff at different levels, including advanced radiographers, who are keen to share their technical knowledge and clinical experience with other professionals.

For these posts, current HCPC registration is not required, but you must be a student due to qualify this academic year. Of course if you're already qualified with current registration and looking for new challenges, we'd love to hear from you too.

We have full-time posts available but would also be looking to fill part-time hours, particularly mornings Monday to Friday. Hours can be flexible around school hours but we would welcome discussion around this either on the application form or at the interview stage. If you would be interested in fixing your work location at one of our community sites, we would be willing to explore that with you at interview.

Though based at the main RUH, there may be opportunity for rotation to one of six community hospitals staffed by a mix of RUH and community radiographers. The community sites provide plain film x-ray facilities for local GP's and out-patient clinics, and there are Minor Injury Units based at four of them. All of the sites use CR/DR equipment and are linked via the RUH PACS network.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties
  • To carry out radiographic imaging using ionising radiation ensuring the production of high quality images to enable accurate diagnoses
  • To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of their own work. To act as an independent radiographic practitioner and maintain professional standards defined by the HPC and College of Radiographers (Registration and Code of Conduct)
  • To work autonomously, out of hours, making effective clinical decisions in accordance with best practice and the IR(ME)R guidelines
  • To ensure that images are acquired in accordance with best practice and that they are diagnostic
  • To independently assess each patient and adapt radiographic technique according to the needs of the patient
