Are you a highly skilled and passionate nurse ready to make a difference in the fast-paced world of Acute Medicine (AM)? We are seeking an exceptional Nurse to join our team and become an integral part of our patient-centred approach to care.
AM is moving across to a new model that will consist of a Rapid Assessment Treatment Zone (RATZ), Assessment Unit (AU), Medical Short Stay Unit and the Older Persons' Short Stay Unit.
Within the AU, patients will firstly undergo a rapid assessment by a senior clinician early in their journey. After each patient has been reviewed by the RATZ clinician, there will be 16x beds attached to the RATZ zone for 12-hour treatments and a 19x bedded 24-hour unit that also has an enhanced care area (4x beds).
The AU is a dynamic and busy unit within the Emergency and Acute Directorate that provides essential assessment and treatment for acutely unwell patients within the Cardiff and Vale area. The AU provides care for patients under a variety of medical specialties.
Additionally, the AM model directly links with the Medical Same Day Emergency Care (MSDEC). MSDEC is an acute assessment and diagnostic area for ambulatory patients that is supported by a variety of clinicians. MSDEC is seeing up to up to 300 patients per month managed via the Virtual Ward (VW). It is also supported by an acute medicine VW function, where patients can remain at home whilst receiving their acute episode of care.
Main duties of the job
Applications are welcomed from qualified Level 1 Registered Nurses who have significant nursing experience and can demonstrate substantial knowledge within this field of expertise.
The post holder will be expected to manage flow within specific areas of the Assessment Unit and develop skills around managing the unit as a whole, providing effective leadership and management of the nursing team in an environment which is complex and pressurised.
You will require excellent communication and clinical skills, significant evidence of CPD and show passion and enthusiasm for working in Acute Medicine.
This is a wonderful career opportunity to further enhance both managerial and clinical skills. If you welcome change, innovation in a challenging but rewarding environment we would like to hear from you.
