Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust are well established providers of healthcare in both Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire prison services and we are delighted to now be delivering NHS healthcare into primary care services at HMP Peterborough.
This post is based at HMP Bedford, a local remand prison for men aged 18 and over.
If you are an experienced psychologist who enjoys working autonomously as well as part of a large integrated healthcare team, then this could be the role for you.
Prison healthcare offers access to healthcare that is equitable to the community and these roles offer the opportunity to make a profound difference to a vulnerable population who may not have been able to previously access robust healthcare.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will work alongside the mental health lead, head of healthcare and Lead Psychologist for Secured Services in NHFT to provide good quality healthcare for residents at HMP Bedford.
They will work alongside leaders in taking a role in service development, especially looking at improving psychologically informed practice across the healthcare department.
The postholder will work clinically with a small caseload and provide supervision to others. We are therefore keen to recruit someone with experience, specialist knowledge and skills working with severe and enduring mental health difficulties such as complex trauma, and personality difficulties as well as neurodiversity.
About us
NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
