The Clinical Matron for theatres is accountable for the clinical and operational management of the operating theatres, including the maternity theatres. The post holders' responsibility is to facilitate an efficient and productive department, managing all members of the perioperative team within the theatre department, close engagement with the Consultant body and holding budgetary responsibility of the service area.The Clinical Matron will monitor, review and deliver a high standard of patient care in their department, whist supporting both clinically and providing managerial leadership throughout the department. TheClinical Matron will facilitate a broad team approach communicate effectively and deliver on the annual divisional strategic objectives.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dynamic individual to become the Clinical Matron of our operating theatredepartmentat Basingstoke North Hampshire Hospital. We are looking for a senior registered practitioner who has a passion for perioperative care and wants the opportunity to lead a strong department.

The hospital supports a broad number of specialties including the international platform for the treatment of peritoneal malignancy with intraoperative cytoreductive surgery, renown heptobiliary service, pioneering minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of benign prostate, a strong orthopaedic and trauma centre.

The role requires a professional and motivated individual, with a proven track record of management andcurrent operating theatre experience within theirpresent role.We are looking for someone todeliver ensuresafe clinical care within theatres, in line with both CQC standards and the business needs of the trust. To beaccountable for the day to day organisation and management of care within the department. To have clear direction and strong leadership to all theatre staff, whilst supporting the initiatives of the division.

Effective and planned utilisation of all the theatre capacity responsible for the management of the resources and communication between service users to maximise productivity.Lead for ensuring quality and standards are met in line with strategic development and formulation of business plans.Financial accountability for theatre budget and clinical theatre staff, managing resources efficiently, to meet agreed targets.To ensure that all staff groups within theatres, including clinicians are engaged in the process of change management and service improvement projects.Member of the senior management team ensuring that strategic business and clinical directives are implemented and cascaded to staff.Responsible for the management of non-clinical staff within areas of responsibility.Liaise with TSSU lead to ensure that the division meets the relevant standards with respect to decontamination.
