Accountable to the Deputy Director of Finance, you will lead the finance function ensuring that a high quality financial service is provided to the Trust.
The Trust invests in finance staff and their personal and career development and this is demonstrated by our North West Finance Skills Development 'Towards Excellence' level 3 accreditation, the highest attainable. The division also holds the Future Focused Finance level 3 accreditation. We believe that these are also endorsements of our continuous improvement policy to provide the Trust with the best possible service from the finance division.
Main duties of the job
The main objective of the role is to ensure the production of a realistic plan for revenue, capital and cash targets and to monitor and manage to those targets. Responsibilities include investigating & advising on complex business issues to improve financial awareness, performance, and to ensure the efficiency, effectiveness, integrity and business focus of the Trust.
Pivotal to the role is ensuring the increase of business expertise within the Divisions, promoting the business partnering model and ensuring value for money. To achieve this, you will actively develop internal and external relationships and work with Divisional leads, Executive Directors, the Trust Board and its sub-committees and key external stakeholders.

- To actively develop internal and external relationships and work with Divisional leads, Executive Directors, the Trust Board and its sub committees and key external stakeholders
- To be responsible for own continual professional development and that of all direct reports. To ensure the provision of finance training and support to non-finance staff
- Provide overall management and supervision to all activities undertaken within the Finance Department, so that services are provided in an efficient manner consistent with necessary timescales
- Effectively maintain a financial planning system to enable the Trust to achieve its financial targets
- Effectively manage the financial monitoring system to enable the Trust to achieve its revenue, capital and cash targets
- Contribute to the overall effectiveness of: the Finance Department and the Trust
- Deputise for the Deputy Finance Director in his or her absence as required

- First Degree
- CCAB or CIMA full member
- Evidence of participation in the appropriate Continuing Professional Development Programme

- Significant post qualification experience in a senior role leading a team of people
- Proven track record in a senior financial management role in the NHS acute sector
- Expert knowledge of the NHS finance regime including commissioning, financial accounts management accounts, costing and pricing methodologies and income streams
- Expert knowledge of Financial and Accounting Procedures
- Proven track record in a strategic role
- Evidence of working with clinical staff to improve patient services
- Proven track record in a staff leadership role
