An exciting training opportunity has arisen for a Nurse who wants to develop their skills in the field of Sexual Health, and ultimately become a Nurse Specialist in Sexual Health (Band 6).
This is usually a 2 year training program, however, a Nurse with previous Sexual Health and/or Contraception and/or HIV experience may not require the full 2 years.
The successful candidates will be based in Northallerton, also working in Catterick and Stokesley, but may be expected to travel to and work in our sexual health services provided across the county of North Yorkshire. Therefore the ability to transport yourself across the locality during the course of a normal working day is a requirement of this role.
There is an expectation that once you have become a Band 6 sexual health Nurse Specialist you will take on specialist interest roles and will lead on service improvement projects and manage the day to day running of the clinics.
Main duties of the job
The service provides support and appointment clinics 5 days a week, in services across York and North Yorkshire. The department supports a consultant and nurse-led approach to the delivery of services and care.
The post holder, once trained, will be responsible for the autonomous management of total episodes of care for patients including patient assessment, independent examination, STI screening, supply of STI treatments, contraception including LARC (sub dermal implant insertion/removal and potentially intrauterine coil) provision and ongoing support of patients.
If you are interested in this exciting opportunity to develop into a Sexual Health Nurse Specialist, and would like to join our friendly team of practitioners in YorSexual Health, then apply now!
