We are seeking to appoint a skilled, confident, and motivated person to join NHIS and to work at one of the happiest Trusts in the country. This permanent position has arisen within the Strategy and Delivery Strategic Business Unit for a Project Implementation Manager to support our customers within the health community. You will need to be a dynamic self-assured person able to manage multiple projects delivering towards the national digital strategy. The successful applicant will join a well-established, cohesive and supportive team.

About the team Project & Business Change Service Line

The NHIS Project Management Service provides the project management skills to ensure information communication and technology (ICT) related projects are appropriately managed. This covers the project management of national and local ICT projects and initiatives.

Project Management Services recognise the need to effectively manage ICT implementations ensuring there is a clearly defined scope with a realistic and achievable project plan. All projects are managed in accordance with PRINCE2 project management methodology. A project manager will be allocated to each project who will define the project structure and request the appropriate resources to deliver the project. The approved project plan will then be managed with all risks and issues monitored through the duration of the project.

Knowledge Requirements

Essential

  • Ability to communicate effectively complex ideas to non-technical staff
  • Ability to analyse and resolve complex Issues
  • Excellent negotiation and facilitation Skills
  • Ability to learn complex systems with minimal supervision
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work on a number of concurrent projects with tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of related local and national strategies and policies
  • knowledge of clinical information systems or how large systems are implemented

  • Knowledge of the role and importance of Health informatics within the NHS

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent professional qualification and/or experience
  • Knowledge of project methodologies eg Prince2
