The Modern Matron's in the Mental Health network cover all specialties including Functional acute, PICU, Advanced Care and Dementia wards, Forensic Services as well as 136 suites. The role is will also involve support and advice to MHLT's, community teams including HBTT.

The Out of hours Matron's role is to support and offer clinical leadership to all areas within LSCFT. This role will cover out of hours predominantly late and weekend shifts. There will be an expectation to also cover night duties. The Out of hours Matron is the first point of contact for any escalations that are required to be dealt with out of hours for any part of Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust.

The Out of hours Matron is expected to be able to demonstrate an in depth knowledge of the key legal frameworks that are regularly used within Mental Health Care, and be expected to share this knowledge and understanding with key stakeholders across Lancashire, including Lancashire Police, NWAS, and Acute trust partners.

The Out of hours Matron is expected to work on their own initiative, and at times be expected to deal with and be accountable for decisions around complex situations, that may affect service users, staff members and the provision of healthcare services as a whole.

Main duties of the job

Some of the other duties within this exciting role include undertaking clinical audits, delivering supervision, medication management, attendance management, face to face training and high level incident management.

The successful candidate will be expected to have an in-depth and up to date knowledge of the inpatient mental health environments and needs for patients and staff, as well as having a wide breadth and depth of knowledge of community services that support LCFT out of hours.

You will need to possess excellent interpersonal skills, have strong leadership and staff development skills. A strong commitment to your ongoing professional education and development is essential.

The main base is The Harbour at Blackpool however occasionally there will be an expectation for the Out of hours Matron to either visit or work from other inpatient facilities.
