The Division of Surgery, Anaesthetics & Critical Care is an integral part of Sherwood Forest Hospitals. We comprise specialist wards for various surgical disciplines, including colorectal, general surgery, trauma orthopedics, elective orthopedics, day cases, adult critical care, and theatres. We are a friendly team that works closely with each other, offering excellent training and education opportunities.
Due to an expansion of the trauma orthopedic bed base, we are opening a new trauma orthopedic ward. We are seeking Registered Nurses who wish to be part of a team that delivers outstanding care to the community we serve. You will work closely with healthcare support workers to provide direct care to our patients and support their relatives during their stay at Sherwood Forest Hospitals.
Wards 11 & 12 will make up the trauma unit, admitting patients with acute injuries regularly requiring surgical input. The unit will be a fast-paced, busy environment, caring for patients both pre- and post-operatively.
Main duties of the job
You will be directly responsible to the Ward Leader/Deputy Ward Leader for day-to-day care delivery on the ward, including the provision of high-quality evidence-based care. On designated days, the post holder will have day-to-day responsibility for directing and controlling all nursing activities in the absence of the Deputy/Ward Leader within agreed-upon resources to provide high standards of nursing care through a dynamic and innovative management style.
You will provide education and support to patients, carers, and staff.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate good communication skills and an understanding of the basic requirements for individualized patient care. They should hold current registration and be willing to pursue further training, maintain flexibility in their working hours, and attend mandatory customer care updates
