A new opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Registered Midwife to join our friendly, credible and dynamic Maternity Safety Team as a Maternity Quality & Safety PMRT Midwife. You will be supporting the service in maintaining national reporting compliance for perinatal losses and coordinate, implement and deliver the recommendations of the PMRT Tool.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate with a minimum of 3 years' post qualification experience. You must have excellent organisational, time management and leadership skills, sound clinical knowledge and be adaptable and flexible to change.

You will work closely within the team to deliver on the corporate agenda for Clinical Governance within the division of Women, Cardiac and Clinical Support via the Quality Safety and Risk Management Strategy.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide leadership and advice on matters relating to PMRT within the Maternity and Neonatal Directorate

Be the principal link between the Maternity and Neonatal Directroate, external representatives, and the familes involved to help ensure a consistent co-joined approach to perinatal mortality reviews

Responsibility for the development and maintenance of the high-quality standards of care designed to address the complex issues surrounding pregnancy loss and to meet the special needs of those suffering bereavement through pregnancy loss

Work with the Obstetric and Neonatal Quality and Safety Leads, Quality and Safety Midwifery Manager, Neonatal Matrons, Maternity Matrons, Obstetric and Neonatal Clinical Governace Consultant Leads, managers and wider multi-professional team to enhance Clinical Quality and Safety Management across the division.

Essential

  • Registered Midwife
  • Midwifery Degree
  • Recent evidence of clinical or professional development
  • Mentorship qualification


Desirable

  • PMRT experience
  • Leadership qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable clinical experience in all areas of Midwifery
  • Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience in Midwifery
  • Knowledge of maternity issues in the wider context of the NHS
  • Knowledge of PMRT


Desirable

  • Experience of developing clinical guidelines
  • Ability to prepare and delivery presentations
  • Experience as a Band 7 labour ward coordinator


Skills

Essential

  • Up to date and evidence-based knowledge of current clinical and professional issues
  • Ability to demonstrate the required expertise associated with a senior midwife role including, advanced clinical skills
  • Understanding of the respective roles and remit of , MBRRACE, CQC, Monitor, MHRA, NHS-R, NICE and other Government Healthcare Organisations
  • Have knowledge and awareness of diversity and human rights and the competencies appropriate to the role to support diverse individual needs and human rights


Desirable

  • Experience of initiating quality improvement programmes/managing change
  • Able to teach and assess in the clinical area
