We are seeking a multi-professional consultant or trainee in their last 6 months to join our assertive outreach team and central CMHT in Southampton.

The assertive outreach team and central CMHT are based at College Keep in central Southampton. The role is offered as a full time post with 4 PAs in the assertive outreach team, 1 PA providing input into the homeless healthcare MDT and 5 PA in our central community mental health team.

We are keen to encourage a good work-life balance and opportunities alongside clinical care including research, teaching and clinical leadership. We are open to this role being covered by 2 applicants sharing the direct clinical care required whilst maintaining other parts of a portfolio career or wishing to work part-time.

College Keep is in central Southampton, walking distance from the city's train and bus station but also has good on-site parking. Southampton is also an easy commute from surrounding areas such as Romsey, Winchester, the New Forest and Hampshire

Applicants must be registered with a licence to practice with their regulatory body. All applicants must have Section 12 Approval and Approved Clinician Status or be within 6 months of applying for their Approved Clinician status when taking up this post.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be based at College Keep, 4-12 Terminus Terrace, Southampton, SO14 3DT. We have one assertive outreach in Southampton and they usually have a caseload of approximately 80 service users and the applicant with provide the consultant leadership for this team. We have a section 75 agreement and work in collaboration with our city council with joint roles across the service. We have 3 adult community mental health teams and the central team works in the same building as our assertive outreach team. We currently have 3 consultants in the central CMHT and our physical health clinic is also run on-site for our clozapine and depot clinics. The applicant will provide consultant care and work in collaboration with the MDT to ensure recovery focused care for their caseload. The multidisciplinary teams consist of Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Medical and Psychology professional groups who are supported by health care support workers and a number of clerical and ancillary staff.

We have a separate adult EIP service and some clinics for this team are run from College Keep.

We have an adult in-patient unit called Antelope House which has 4 wards in total: 1 male acute (Saxon), 1 female acute (Trinity), Male PICU (Hamtum) and female PICU (Abbey). We also have our liaison psychiatry department within the division who are based at University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust.

Essential

  • *Current registration as a nurse or allied health professional
  • *Masters Degree in a relevant field
  • *Management qualification or significant senior management experience in a healthcare setting
  • *Evidence of significant professional and managerial development, including a comprehensive and relevant CPD portfolio
  • *Independent non-medical prescribing
  • *AC/RC status
