An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, skilled clinician with demonstrated leader and management skills to join our adult Inpatient Mental health ward.
We provide high quality inpatient and community mental health services to adults over the age of 18 who live in Portsmouth.
The Clinical Matron will lead our Adult inpatient services which are based at St James' Hospital Portsmouth and they include:
As the Clinical Matron you will provide professional leadership to nursing and associated professionals across the service and work closely with the Matrons and Head of Quality & Professions and Service Managers to ensure the operational delivery of high-quality care, clinical safety and effective clinical governance.
The post holder will be expected to create an environment of continuous quality improvement, develop clinical practice and care pathways designed around adults within mental health service to ensure that delivery of care is regularly reviewed ensuring CQC compliance and embedding NICE and other quality benchmarks in good practice.
Main duties of the job
*Services meet the needs of patients and their families to achieve improved health outcomes and promote health and wellbeing while demonstrating care, compassion, competence, communication, courage, and commitment
*Care is based on comprehensive assessment, ensures continuity and is patient/client centred, culturally sensitive and evidence-based and which promotes independence
*To develop and maintain a culture of service improvement which promotes quality and safety and striving to improve and develop
*In line with the requirements set out in the NMC code which require all registered nurses to:
Prioritise people Practice effectively Preserve safety Promote professionalism and trust
*Ensure that clinical practice and services are evidence based and policy driven, being delivered to the highest possible standards of person-centred customer care
Provide positive inspirational leadership, connecting patients, staff and partners with the vision and values of Solent NHS Trust

We provide high quality inpatient and community mental health services to adults over the age of 18 who live in Portsmouth.

- Maples Ward at The Orchards - 10 bed ward providing intensive mental health care for people placed on a section of the mental health act and require facilities which are locked.
- Hawthorns Ward at The Orchards -- 20 bed ward for people with an acute mental illness who need to be admitted for the assessment and/or treatment within a hospital environment.

- Evidence of post registration within Leadership or Management. This can be in the form of a qualification or experience.
Experience
