This is a new post created with transformation funding to enhance the provisions of psychological interventions to people in secondary care and also deliver interventions to patients who fall between primary and secondary services. Join our secondary care mental health services and work across ARMS and EIP as a Clinical Associate Psychologist!

At Risk Mental State Service is a new an exciting service that will work with individuals from the age of 14- 30 who may be at risk of developing psychosis. The purpose will be to offer brief holistic psychological and psychosocial interventions to prevent further development of psychotic symptoms.

We need you to be a compassionate and caring individual, with the ability to build safe relationships with colleagues and patients.

Main duties of the job

* CAARMS assessments

* Behavioural Activation

* Treatment of self-harm and suicide risk reduction

* Motivation Interviewing for people with dual diagnosis or ambivalence regarding

* Change in behaviours significantly affecting their mental health

* Low intensity CBT for people with psychosis or an at risk mental state

* Sleep hygiene

* Assisting qualified therapists with exposure work and behavioural experiments in community and domiciliary treatment, including supporting use of virtual reality for exposure.

* assisting with research, audit and service evaluation projects

Person Specification



  • BPS Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) and hold a minimum 2:2 first degree in Psychology, or an equivalent conversion course
  • Graduate member BPS or eligibility



  • Experience of providing mental health care and /or working within NHS services
  • Knowledge or experience of graduate level or post-graduate research
  • Delivering brief CBT such as Sleep hygiene, Problem solving,
  • Behavioural exposure, Behavioural activation
  • Risk assessment and management
