We are looking for an experienced midwife ( Fixed term: 12 months ), whose key role is to support the implementation of the maternity transformation programme working alongside the Transformation Lead Midwife. The role is to work across the 2 sites of UH Sussex for Worthing & Chichester

You will have an in-depth expert knowledge in quality improvement, clinical/and or system transformation and assurance.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with clinical and managerial colleagues across the maternity and wider health system to support transformational changes and safety of services.

Supporting the project lead for transformation they will be responsible for the delivery and implementation of the midwifery continuity of carer model at UH Sussex by ensuring the correct building blocks are in place.

The post holder will work with key stakeholders to develop and deliver a project plan to achieve the nationally agreed targets.

The post holder will support the work of any sub-groups arising from the project, monitoring the progress of their work against relevant project plans, ensuring these are in line and on time to achieve the overall aims and objectives of the project.

Job responsibilities

Maternity services are transforming to deliver safer, kinder, and more personalized care whilst addressing disparity in maternity services. This transformation can only be achieved when everyone plays their part.

Working under the direction of the Lead Transformation Midwife we will:
  • Reduce local inequity and inequality in outcomes and experiences for our local population.
  • Embed the Personalised Care and Support Plans
  • Co-produce our improvements with our service users that impacts the trust wide improvements.
  • Maintain oversight of the full transformation plan, working collaboratively with other key staff who are leading the maternal medicine network, maternal mental health service, in-house prevention pathways, Badgernet, maternity data and perinatal pelvic health, safety, and quality improvements e.g. SBLCB2.
  • Focus on the building blocks for Continuity of Carer as the vision for the default model of care.

One of the exciting aspects of this role is the focus on listening to and co-producing with our service users and our Maternity Voices Partnership as this will really help us understand and better meet their needs in a way that reflects the circumstances of their lives.

To support the Transformation Lead Midwife with projects associated with the perinatal equity and equality plan, to reduce health inequalities within our most disadvantaged groups in East Sussex.

To work closely with the Transformation Lead to implement strategy to support staff development and retention in relation to those from ethnic minority backgrounds.

Establish links with Trusts Equality and Diversity Leads to ensure pathways are in place to support strategy.

The postholder will support the Transformation Lead midwife to take forward and support delivery of outcomes outlined within The Maternity Transformation Programme (MTP) and the NHS Long-Term Plan (LTP).
